“My Dad Makes Wine and Sells Wine.” 🍷 When my son Marco was very young, his teacher asked him in front of the class: “Marco, what does your dad do for a living?” Without missing a beat, he answered: “My dad makes wine and sells wine.” I couldn’t have said it better myself. Of course, there’s a little more to owning a wine company than that. Managing inventories, financing production, negotiating with distributors, dealing with banks, overseeing logistics, managing employees, developing brands, and making sure everyone gets paid. And occasionally getting a good night’s sleep. 😂 But when you strip away all the complications, Marco had it exactly right. I make wine. I sell wine. For more than 32 years, that’s what I’ve been doing at Castle Rock Winery. It’s a tangible product. Something you can hold in your hand, open, pour into a glass, and share with family and friends. These days, people are making fortunes in cryptocurrency, digital assets, and businesses I couldn’t begin to explain. Maybe I’m just old-fashioned, but I’ve always liked producing and selling something real. No virtual wallets. No mysterious algorithms. No smoke and mirrors. And I think all of us in the wine industry should be proud of what we do. From the farmers who grow the grapes, to the winemakers who craft the wines, to the distributors, salespeople, retailers, restaurant owners, sommeliers, and servers who bring our wines to the table—we’re all part of an industry that creates something tangible. Something that brings people together, celebrates life’s special moments, and has been part of human civilization for thousands of years. That’s something worth being proud of. Of course, we’ve now launched Kosmic Kitty Wines, featuring a psychedelic cat, edgy artwork, and a marketing strategy built around social media. So perhaps I’m not quite as old-fashioned as I thought. 😂 But at the end of the day, Marco had it right all those years ago. I make wine. I sell wine. And after more than three decades, I still love doing both. Would I trade it all for a fortune in Bitcoin? Well, that depends on how big the fortune is. 😂🍷 To everyone who makes their living in the wine industry, here’s to us! 🍷 #WineIndustry #Entrepreneurship #CastleRockWinery #KosmicKittyWines #FamilyBusiness
